Evolution of Directional Wave Spectra Through Finite Regular and Randomly Perturbed Arrays of Scatterers

چکیده
A method is proposed to solve the full linear problem of wave scattering by a large finite array of circular inclusions in two spatial dimensions and compute the concomitant evolution of directional wave properties through the array. The method decomposes the array into slabs. Interactions between adjacent slabs are calculated using a representation of the wave fields scattered by each slab as integrals of plane waves over the directional spectrum plus exponentially decaying branches. The method is applied to the canonical problem of acoustic sound-hard scatterers. Validation is sought for: (i) regular arrays via comparison with solutions of corresponding infinite, periodic singleand multiple-row arrays; and (ii) random arrays via comparison with Foldy’s approximation for the effective field. A numerical investigation is conducted to determine the effect of introducing random perturbations into regular arrays on the directional properties of the reflected and transmitted fields.

متن کاملSpectral Analysis of Wave Propagation through Rows of Scatterers via Random Sampling and a Coherent Potential Approximation
A method is proposed to determine the modal spectra of waves supported by arrays, which are composed of multiple rows of scatterers randomly disordered around an underlying periodic configuration. The method is applied to the canonical problem of arrays of identical small acoustically-soft circular cylinders, and disorder in the location of the rows. Two different approaches are adopted to calc...

متن کاملThe Effects of Different Seed Layers and Growth Time on the Quality of ZnO NRs Arrays
ZnO nanorods (NRs) were synthesized using an in situ low-temperature hydrothermal method. In order to investigate the effect of different seed layers on quality of ZnO NRs arrays, alcoholic, alkaline and acidic seed solutions were deposited by spin coating on ITO-glass substrate. Experimental results revealed that the vertically ZnO NRs obtained from monoethanolamine-based seed layer is the...
متن کاملOptimal order finite element approximation for a hyperbolic integro-differential equation
Semidiscrete finite element approximation of a hyperbolic type integro-differential equation is studied. The model problem is treated as the wave equation which is perturbed with a memory term. Stability estimates are obtained for a slightly more general problem. These, based on energy method, are used to prove optimal order a priori error estimates.
